What you need to sell your car

Now that you've decided to sell your car, you may be wondering what you need? 

Initially you don't need very much at all. Just look out the window at your licence plate, enter it on the online selling site for passenger cars and the rest will follow later.

Of course you'll get a better offer if you have the car's details as complete as possible. Note the following points:

This is, by the way, a question that at Thissen Auto's we received very many different vague answers to in the past. Avoiding this answer has absolutely no benefit. Just say what you want for your car.

How do you determine as a private individual what your car is worth? It's not that difficult at all. Look up a comparable car on a selling site such as Autotrader or Autoscout. Find the right comparison material. Look at the year of manufacture, mileage and trim level for the options. 

Don't overestimate your car's value by looking at the most expensive one — look objectively at what comparable cars are listed for. It pays to compare a car thoroughly before you decide to sell. 

A trader or dealer needs a margin to be able to make a profit. They will therefore want to pay 1,000 to 1,500 euros less than what the cars are listed for.
